They Clean carpets and sofas and stuff.
He wants it VERY simple

If he wants it VERY simple, I would simplify it.
Delete the Express, arrow and the splash.
I agree, this is not simple at all, especially with that terrible and random looking spatter. Good choice of font, except for the "express" one. It doesn't really compliment the main one.

True, clean up the express font if you have to have it there. and the symbol is really adding nothing for the logo. Font is great!

I'm having a bad time trying to put the "washing/cleaning" concept on this logo.
It also MUST HAVE the "Express" thing on it, since the client especified so.
This was the first one I made, but he said it was "Too Disco" :c
He's probably right, but there is something nice about it.
I would try to keep it as just type (experiment with lots of fonts), but then add a little tweak. Maybe the 'S' can be the tube and nozzle from an Aqua Vac (I assume that's how he cleans the carpets) that starts to tug/suck at the word 'express'. This is the first thing I could think of, so it's a bit obvious, but the more you research and sketch, the more unique they will become.
I just did a google for 'carpet cleaning logo' and there's a lot of crap out there. However, there are some interesting ideas that you can develop or be inspired by.
