Brief from client
Updated my old logo. Tried to make it neat and racingish, but not too racing to be able to put in ads and such.
Simple logo I made a while ago for my company. We specialize in race car designs, printing and wrapping. Made it easy to read while still having a "racing" look to it.

Attached is the logo I used for the past two years. Changed the name also.
I prefer the earlier one personally.
The new one got potentials too. I would get rid of the thinner line in red. I would also fine-tune the edges such as the top left where you have a small unwanted corner. I would also check the small lines you added inside the type, those are too thin, you might want to make them more permanent or remove them.
I really like what you did with the font on the new one, I agree with mahayni about the unnecessary checkered flag corner and the lines on the inside of the type, I like them but just make them a little bigger. Think MSU Football logo big.
(check out that logo to understand what I am talking about)
Overall I like it It is stylish and aesthetically pleasing, and definitely reminds me of a racing logo.
One last thing I notice is the spacing issues of the letters; the P and the I are touching, while the X has a nice consistent spacing with the I and E, and the E and L have a really thin space between them. For me spacing like that should always be the same, it gives it a real clean finish. So if anything fix that for sure. Good work guy, keep it up.
Ahhh, my mistake about stating mahayni did not dig the checkered flag, I now see the little cliff hanger you have on the upper left of the outline. The checkered flag isn't displeasing by any means, and I didn't mean for it to sound like I was saying that. If I made it I too would also be proud of the extra added detail.
I just think the typography as a stand alone is strong enough to give it that racing feel.
Also at my second glance I noticed your thin cutaway on the L isn't complementing the letter like all the other cut aways. So maybe see if you can find a better place to add that on the L.
i think i like it! it definitely looks racingish :) not sure what i think of the space below the X maybe you should cut like a triangle out? so we don't see so much black
Thank you for the feedback. Actually, I used to have a triangle cut in the black, but it was the first thing seen when looking at the logo.
