Brief from client
Logo needs to be fun and capture the Idea of the tagline. "Your Source For Everything Pets"
A Fun for the public website with contests and resources
Wow easy now! Be constructive or say nothing at all. If you don't like it say so but give your reasons. Your comment was of no use what so ever. This sites purpose is to get feedback and as a result improve.
Ooh, you uploaded this when I was writing I guess! This is a big improvement- but I'd still love to see it without the shadow on the heart!? (And I'm not sure how I feel about "LI" being stuck in a heart above Pet- could it still be written out, just without the shape between the words!?
Bottom line is this, is your client happy with the design? If so congratulations, you succeeded. Don't listen to everyone's personal emotions on this design. They weren't there to interview the client. Perhaps, in the future, you should give us a little backstory to help avoid the overly negative feedback.
-I don't think the shadow needs to be on the heart - it makes it look like the animals are falling off of a ledge or something and it just further complicates everything.
-The website shouldn't be on a logo.
- Why has something been scratched off between "Long" and "Island"? That blob of black looks unappealing. (And if that's supposed to be Long Island- I'd still delete it, it's not big enough to be clear and just doesn't need to be there. People know what Long Island is.)
-For my tastes, you used a few too many fonts.
-The colors are fine, but red and black don't really shout "pet lover" to me!?
Part of me wants to just say "start over!" but I dunno.... if you got rid of a few things, maybe change the fonts, rearranged it a bit, maybe change the colors- it might be half-way passable.

Ouch! This is way too complicated. To much text, too many elements!
You got to simplify this drastically. The Long Island map is unnecessary Like most maps, it just looks like a stain or a scratch.
The colors give the whole thing a dramatic/urgency aspect which is not what you are going for, I guess.
Too many hearts and pet silhouettes...
I'd restart from scratch, with pen and paper, after having consulted a lot of really cool logo for inspiration.
Good luck!
Horror.... it is a joke?

No, if the client is happy with this logo, it's certainly not a success. Quiet the contrary.
Clients are no designers, though they sometimes think they are. Like in this very instance, it seems.
It's the designer's job, who's supposed to know what a good logo looks like, to convince the client, not the other way around.
The goal isn't to make the client happy. There are already tons of business owners who are over the moon with their crappy logo.
The goal is to make a great logo that will look good on your portfolio and ultimately attract new clients.
I'd say there are too many things happening here.
