Sorry but this is unreadable.
The mirrored branches kinda throw me off. As you said, there are too many things to look at, too much clutter that gets in the way of an already hard to read logo.
I would remove the wraith (for lack of a better word) altogether and focus on the custom lettering.
Even knowing what this is supposed to say, I can barely read it.
It looks more like Jill and Jucy are sending out wedding invites than a logo.
Sorry.
It looks like the "hand lettering" was done with a stylus or the mouse straight on the computer. That is generally NEVER a good method for lettering. There is no variation of line weight, letters have varying heights and widths, it is illegible!
I'd ditch the flowers (which do not grow perfectly symmetrical, so it makes it obvious when you copy/mirror them) and focus on nicer lettering. Then add one- just ONE- more small floral or "girly" element. That puts the focus on the name, not on the drawing around it.
Thanks a ton for the freed back, if we weren't to keep the lettering; is there a font you might suggest?
We still have a collection of possible fonts, so we may look back on those options
There are a ton of sites to download fonts, but also Pinterest can be a great place to get inspiration! May help you narrow down what you are wanting and link you straight to the site to download or buy the font.
And I say this with much L-O-V-E....don't keep that lettering! =) It can be much improved!
Or you could keep only the lettering, but spend some serious time working on it. Look out for tutorial videos. Remember this simple trick: down stroke = thick, up stroke = thin.
If you don't have pressure sensitive graphic tablet, sketch. Like a lot. Even if you have one, sketch anyway. That's how you can work our a very organic feel.
Keep it up!
