Logo for a Blog About Art

Brief from client

Is for my own site. I wanted a logo to fit the concept of art and blog.

The logo use the Ledger font (free) excepting the first letter which is distorted (And I'm not sure is fit).

I've put the RGB colors in the first letter to sugest digital art, cause digitalart is the art of the present and the future, I think.

Can you please remove the link? We have so many spam on the a daily basis that we want to be sure people are posting for a fair and honest review of their work and not self promotion.

Thank you!

The logo looks friendly, the letters also friendly, but it doesnt say art at all.
In my opinion, make it more personal and courageous, and a bit more dynamic.
Talking about digital art, you can go with something more than RGB, there are situation when artists work in CMYK. \
Also the 'A" catches my attention, but is intriguing me because i have nothing to associate it with, i have no idea what it is, just some random shape made to ook like an "a"?
Go with a modern, bold, massive font or hand lettering, maybe squared or with modern lines and dynamics, keep it simple or at least discreet with the colors and dont add random shapes just to get there.

Sorry if this seems harsh...but you asked for honesty! So, it doesn't work. The A looks like a door to a gnomes house (is there a reason for that?). The font looks dated. And the idea of using rgb colors only adds to making it look dated. So I think that is a reference that you do not need. This feels like you went straight to your computer with the first idea you had, made it and called it done. It lacks inspiration. I would suggest looking at others blog logos and see what they do that works (or doesn't work) and spend a little time working out several ideas.

The symbol by itself is cute.

But I don't think this works as a whole. First because replacing a character by a symbol rarely works and more often than not, it gets in the way of legibility. Also, the RGB thing is by now an old gimmick which is better left alone. It's like these printing house logos with the done-to-death CMYK colors scheme.

As pointed out by Joy, the font feels very dated and uninspired. There are plenty of very cool fonts you can find on sites like www.losttype.com or www.fontsquirrel.com Check them out.

Good luck!
