Logo for Logistics Company

Brief from client
Create an original, new logo to replace the old one. Company name: A2B Movers. A2B is a logistics moving company for IKEA deliveries and more. Logo featured on business cards, website, uniforms, and trucks.

The logo represents the "A2B" of the company name. The letters are a bold oblique Helvetica font to look as if they're moving in fast forward. This represents the purpose of the company--to move fast. I went for a sleek, simple design and included a custom drawn 2 with the look of a road to represent the delivery aspect of the company. Black and yellow will become the official colours of the company. The 2 connects point 'A' to point 'B', intertwining into the final destination of the 'B'.

I like to be positive in my critiques but this needs a TON of work. A quick google search shows that this idea already exists. You have done nothing to lay out the type. The 2 looks like it was drawn in 2 seconds with a sharpie. Might want to consider putting more time into refining that. The style of your design reminds me of when I was first starting out, before going to school and then eventually becoming a professional. So that means there's hope yet! Keep sketching out ideas and really polish them for the final iteration.
I wholeheartedly agree with JNF.
I'll admit you are not helped by the lamest brand name there is. Like it's 2003 all of a sudden.
But as JNF said, you need to put in a lot more work in this logo.
First you need to do some research. Study the market of whole mover business. Identify the trends as far as logo and brand identity are concerned.
Then, get inspired: www.logopond.com www.dribbble.com www.behance.com Get a Pinterest account. Learn about fonts: www.fontsinuse.com www.fontjoy.com/
Finally, as JNF already said: sketch. Sketch for hours on end. No computer, just pen and paper. This is how ideas will shape up under your pen, back to your brain then back on paper.
Keep it up!
