Logo for maths website

Brief from client

Mathyz. Professional looking, but with a kiddy touch. Play with letters. Name means Maths is easy or maths with ease.

From lots of versions the client chose this one. Can you read the name easily? Can you see what letter the blue scribble is? Can you see the smiley face or something else? Thanks!

Sorry, but I read "math z". I suspected that a letter had been subbed with the symbol, but I couldn't really tell which one.

Replacing a character with an image is rarely a good idea. It's pretty hard to do and requires a lot of work. Your logo here looks rushed and poorly thought through. It doesn't look like you spent any time sketching beforehand.

The symbol itself doesn't really like a smiley. What I see is an arabic character. The placement of the symbol is also off, making it even harder for the viewer to identify it as part of the word.

Unfortunately, this is not working at all. You should restart from scratch with a proper creative process this time (research, inspiration, sketching, sketching sketching and more sketching, execution)

I read this as 'math7z'. My brain wants to add a space so that it is 'math 7s', but that still doesn't make sense.

Sorry this is a miss. Also, that is a default colour swatch from Illustrator, never a good plan.

I don't think that's inherently bad. I just don't think it works with black.

Perhaps not. I will clarify though. I personally never use any colour of the default palette of anything. Even mixing in just 10% more Y to a colour makes it look different enough. Perhaps I am too worried what other designers think?

To me it is like using the default font in Word. I just cannot do it!

I can see where you're coming from. If you want to get technical, Pantone swatch books have more widely acceptable color selections.

I think you are right with «math7z», but the 7 is an «and tironien»
