As someone who works in advertising, I see the abstract-tooth-shape symbol a lot for dentist offices. A logo doesn't always have to show what the business does. For example, the Ford logo isn't a car, and the Nike logo isn't a shoe. If you want to have a high-class feel, try looking at high-end brands for inspiration. A simple wordmark in a beautiful typeface or a well-executed monogram might work.
I agree with BRT. The current logo is to obvious and looks very whispy. The way the two lines are extended at bottom look like legs. Add a face, and you have a tooth running a marathon!
