Logo for synth music company

Brief from client
My client wanted a logo for his company that will produce synth music for people to buy and for his podcast. He gave me very free hands, but I got the feeling he did not want anything too modern.. What do you think? How can I make it less modern?
The symbol is a pair of headphones and the dots and rectangel in between is supposed to make you think of a synthesizer. Maybe it's too vague?

This looks quite well crafted, but I don't really see the synth reference. It looks more like morse code to me.
Also, the cable that looks like a little devil tail adds to the confusion.
I would rework the symbol.
