Brief from client
I am a second year student of graphic design , and this is a first draft of my own logo / branding. Do you have tips or feedback?
It's only for school
Really nice idea. The symbol is nice too, but becareful with strokes, the can be tricky, especially if you reduce the logo. It better to keep a fixed thickness and then expand the symbol (in Illustrator: object > expand)
Not a fan of what you did with the font. Keep things simple. Don't go playing with first letters, separating them from the rest of the word, making them thicker, etc. It's all gimmicky, serves no purpose and complicates things.
About these colors, try to avoid having two dark shades together. Create contrast, with one dark and one brighter shade.
You light want to try a simpler composition though this one isn't terrible. But you will gain in simplicity and readability.
Nice job, cooperads to catch a steal and a good follow up from Charlie. What I want to add to an original image from shutterstock is why make another palm and a body of the bird next to a palm that already resembles a bird 100%? One palm by itself with all five fingers shows a bird already. Right now that symbol from shutterstuck shows two palms rolling a dough to bake something.
Well you learned something important here. We all get inspiration and ideas from different sources, but you have to rise above your inspiration and make it your own. If you don't somebody somewhere will point it out. Once I found out someone was presenting my work in their portfolio in the same city. One of the creative directors they were presenting to was my wife. Small world and it can bite you in the ass if you are not your own person in the creative field.

Keep it up!
Could you make the lines thicker? I too like the idea with this, but I feel the contour line treatment doesn't do the symbol justice.
Agreed on the typography. Make your letters consistent.
First rule of graphic design, especially for your own branding, be original!
I hate it when the only thing likable about a logo has been ripped off from someone else's work....
Nice catch, Coop.
Maaaaan.....
That really sours my opinion quite a bit. New critique: start over from scratch completely and don't rip someone's artwork.
Good catch.
So bad! I thought I had done a great job.
Nice catch.
