Lowcountry Spurs

Brief from client

Logo for a local tailgating group. They really wanted something sports driven, and they're happy with the design. I just wanted yall's thoughts.

It is very obviously inspired around the Carolina Gamecocks, and we've gotten the team's corporate permission to use their likeness for non commercial purposes.

I think it's pretty good. There is a tick on the upper left part of the S that could be smoothed out. I also question putting the red behind all of the letters. there are some spots where it is a think line or a small dit. Just a bit distracting.

I would love to see this logo without all these big back strokes. Let it breath a little.

"Spurs" isn't easy to read because of the lack of contrast between the stroke and the that burgundy.

I'm not sure what this symbol is. It looks like a claw more than a spur. Not a fan of its placement.
Keep at it!

So,

The spurs aren't normal spurs, like boot spurs.

When they say spurs, they are literally referring to the "spur" of a rooster. Attaching a photo below.

So the graphic of the spur is the graphic used for the Carolina Gamecocks, just stylized for this logo. This group really only does tailgating for Gamecock games, and they got permission from the actual Carolina Gamecocks to use that graphic.

If it helps, I didn't know that either until I encountered this client. News to me.
