Brief from client 

This is a logo I want to use for a clothing company I am looking at starting. The color is still up in the air. Suggestions are most welcome.

A rough draft would mean a sketch on paper... Try to not use Illustrator as a creative tool.

This doesn't say clothing to me and it is utterly uneventful. I would sketch some more ideas before moving forward. On what Shawali said...I have been designing logos for over 20 years and I still sketch first. Of course, I get lazy sometimes or sometimes I already know what I want to do in my head and go straight to Illustrator but sketching first is key. It is more freeing and one idea flows into the next without having to work out the illustrator details first.
