Brief from client
The News needed a rebrand to separate itself from its competitor in the city. They want their new brand to be clean, corporate, and authoritative, but also honest, engaging, and community-driven.
The new look was also to improve the public's perception and solidify its place as the main trusted news source in the community.
The typeface was selected for it sharper points, specifically on the N. Its tone is strong, clean, authoritative, and humanist. An edit to the W was made for further emphasis of strength.
The texture along the circle was to lessen the corporate feel in favour of community.

Looks too much like a coffee stain. Like a bloody coffee stain. Make it look more like a wax seal if thats the look you're going for. Research my good dude.

A wax seal is generally a red circle filled with red and not transparent. never seen one with just an outline before.

I like the idea but if your going for wax seal you need to work on it more.
I think "wax stamp" was a bad comparison on my part. I was thinking of how the icon could be displayed on some sponsored ads like a stamp. Going for a literal wax stamp doesn't seem to make enough sense for the newspaper.
I've uploaded a few other variations to stray away from the bloody coffee stain haha. What do you think?
