Brief from client 

Simple but stylish
Incorporate the fact that McKenzie is a river and convey that in logo with a "modern" look

Used the script to give the "stylish" aspect, and the stacked swooshes to convey the river aspect.

I'd get rid of the oval frame, it's superfluous. The word mark works pretty well on its own.

I am on the same page with Shawali about the oval frame that serves no purpose unless it's a famous " Ford " iconic logo. My only bickering would be an '" M " with that many pointy tops - it is start looking as Sydney Opera House.Nice color scheme.

At a second glance your oval frame is a complete rip off of a famous " Ford " logo with the same exact layout - no go on that, sorry
