Brief from client
Create un logo of "Malagasy Sera" a new advertising agency.
I thought i was having a slow day at work. This looks like a sports logo because of the green and the shape of the S. The points pointed out by Jon are spot on work on those. Your font choice could also use some work.
Ha, a post from Madagascar, a country close to my heart for having lived there for a few years, a long time ago.
Unfortunately, this logo isn't looking good at all and does not work, as it definitely reads "Malagasy Era". Having the symbol substitutes for a letter, and vice-versa, rarely works and this logo is no exception.
The choice of font is really poor, as Jon pointed out, these are really out dated. Dig into some typography related sites to keep you up to date and get yourself some general knowledge about the do's and the dont's. Check this one for exemple http://tinyurl.com/cvz4rbk

Trouble is that i read it as 'Malagasy Era'. The 'S' is way too elaborate and defeats the ultimate purpose of legibility.
The whole thing feels like a late 70s design and the green is too old hat and unfresh.
Sketch as many ideas as you can on paper before you go onto the computer... It pays well ;)

Also, by the general look of your logo, it seems you didn't have much inspiration. Here are a few sites that can help you with that : www.stocklogos.com www.dribbble.com and www.logopond.com
Keep working on it (remember, always start on paper!)
Good luck!
