New Golf Apparel Logo

Brief from client

OZ Golf

Client is creating a brand for young to middle aged golfers (ages 15-40) that are not brand concious (Nike, Under Armor, Titelist, etc.) and do not want to or can't afford the premium for high end golf apparel. Logo should be simple, bold, modern, and be print & stitch friendly on shirts, hats, etc.

Thank you all in advance for your critiques and suggestions.

Simple, bold, and modern. Easy to print and customize onto apparel. O is designed to symbolize a golf hole or ball. The motion of the design can also symbolize a golf swing.

Perhaps if you could have included the type we would have had some good context upon which to judge. But I still think you need to think again. For me I don't really get it.

Personally I think that is a reflection of customer requirements.

Thanks for invitation!

I think that logo have potential, but you still have to work on it. I agree with kimuyu, it would be helpfull if you also use typography, so we could have better picture.

As for the symbol, I`m not sure for the sharp edges on the letter Z (I didnt realize its Z at the first place)

I would suggest to highlight letter Z more, and try some proposal with rounded edges. And of course, the typography of the brand.

Cant wait to see edits. Good luck!

Thanks for the invite.

Your rationale makes sense but unfortunately it's not reflected in the logo. The O isn't reminiscent of a golf hole nor a ball. The Z is not reminiscent of a swing either.

I can see its simplicity and versatility but it needs more exploration.

Look inside an actual golf hole and look at the patterns in it. Same with the golf ball. The swing needs to be a bit more literal as well in my opinion.

You are also missing the type, I see this as a mark, so for your next iteration you might want to show us a complete logo.

Can't comment on the typography since there's none.

The color is fine.

A little bit more exploration and you're there, at least you are clear on the concepts.

Keep it up!

I'm going to disagree with everyone here.

While not perfect, I get it, and I do see the symbolism. It does make me think of a golf swing, particularly as seen from overhead. Maybe that's because I'm an avid golfer? and I've seen so many of those diagrams in training manuals/golf mags?

I wouldn't scrap this idea. though it does need a lot of refinement. However, I would recommend you do many more sketches and try do develop other ideas as well.

I'm with Paintedjeff on this one. Although it looks a but dated with that not so great green, I think this symbols works pretty great. I totally get the ball/hole and swing symbolism while I can see the word OZ.

That being said, it needs work. The reason some people are turned off might reside in the fact it doesn't look much on its own. Put it in context, with a matching word mark or/and subtext, try to show it in its element, on a leaflet, poster and I'm sure it will work better.

Of course, it should also work on its own. Refine it, maybe try a version less not as thick.

Keep it up, you're onto something cool here.

I'm also with the opinion of the above 2, I read OZ and i see the golf connection too, i think its pretty cool! I think it works as it is but perhaps try to refine it a bit more, Good Job!

Idea: O & Z convert to a dynamic shape it very Good idea.
Sorry I didn't manage to change the thumb. I press the wrong one.

Symbol: the round shape with an arrow it is GREAT idea for a golf brand. It represents exactly the golf club and the ball trajectory. The bottom of the Z could stand for the golf course or the teeing ground.
Color: I does not matter with this kind of logo

I love it. May be the proportion could be improve. It looks heavy.

Friend I think you are going in a correct direction, are not following traces of competitors but the symbol itself walks is not cool, maybe you can implement something hidden in the logo facing the playing area (golf) suddenly the club, I believe I can imagine something like that in this work, I actually looked for it when I first looked at the work.

Thank you, I hope to help you.

Suerte!.
