Newtown CT Alumni Fund - Charity for all affected by the killing of 20 Children & 6 Adults
Brief from client
I grew up in Newtown Connecticut, USA, home to The Sandy Hook Elementary School, where there was a terrible shooting on 12/14/12. 20 small children and 6 teachers were killed by a mentally unstable man that day.
The majority of the children were killed in the same room that I attended Kindergarten in, back in the early 1960's. - By the end of the day on the 14th, a group of Newtown School System Alumni, including myself, had organized a fully legal and state authorized charitable fund for the children of the town.
I designed a logo that is now being used on some of our Group's materials, websites, newspaper articles, promotional items, etc. - The image incorporates our town's seal... used since incorporation in 1705. It is encircled with 26 stars, representing the lives lost that day and the year 1705 was replaced with the year of the tragedy: 2012.
- It is intentionally conservative while not appearing mournful. We alumni have always felt strongly loyal to our small New England town and wanted an image that echoed our pride while still acknowledging the lives and innocence that were taken that fateful day.
