I love color scheme - great job! White element bugs me a bit. I'm not sure that a stylized " Z " could be seen instantly, as I , also, see a " 2 " and even a playful colt - but that just me. Wonder how that symbol will look if it is sized down and placed inside of that rosette. Don't think that you need a drop shadow here.
I've seen a lot of personal brand marks and the ones that have some sort of container have the symbol completely inside of it. That's one of the reasons I wanted to make the Z stand outside of the heptagon.
The drop shadow is debatable, I like it because it's a subtle suggestion of depth, and I'm not too fond of flat design :p
Whaaaa??? I don't see any of those things you mentioned (kudos for having a bright imagination!). I actually think this a pretty strong logo mark.
I also enjoy that it breaks out of its "container" and the color scheme is really nice. You may not need the drop shadows for a logo. Other than that, I say Nice Work!
On second glance, I will admit I wish the top horizontal and bottom horizontal of the letter Z occupied a bit more space- I think it would add balance.
But still, just a suggestion, and still nice work.

Hey stavengard, Thanks for your comments.
A playful colt, interesting :).

Thanks again!
Some people might even spot two palms opposite each other with their thumbs almost connecting.
