Isn't there another Denim company with a logo like this? Perry Ellis, maybe? Maybe not.. I would move the Denim over a bit to give the left side some space. Other than that, it's very minimal..or boring. I wouldn't buy the product based on the logo (or want to rock it on a t-shirt). 18-30 is your target, probably not going to work. I think of a mall store in the late 80's.
Idea is not original by far, there are hundreds of logos similar to this but
it's nice to see someone attempting to use 'gestalt' principles to create a logo. ALthough... lot of people just imitate existing 'gestalt' logos without knowing anything about 'Gestalt theory' and I somehow think you belong to that crowd.
This logo would be passable if you did not ruin everything with that 'DENIM' typography that feels totally out of place there. Position and alignment are also totally wrong which shows you really lack a good sense for composition.

I like the logo but the way DENIM is positioned.
