What is this thing in the R? Looks like a burnt out matchstick.

The thing inside the "R" looks like a uterus. You might work on making the "R" stokes more uniform/refined.

At first I thought it was a mutant brain or something, but its a cafe.

The font can be better, something from fontsquirrel.com may help you, also recommending you change the symbol to something more recognizable and not so brain-like lol.
