Brief from client
Fun project for my brother in law. This may turn into a logo, but for now will be a 1 color t-shirt print. He is firefighter and safety nut, so I made a fire hydrant with 2 tap handles. After my first draft, I haven't had a chance to get back to it. thought I would upload the art here and see if you wonderful people could point me in a good direction. I like the start, but need a finish. Thanks all!

The distressed treatment is a bit much. Maybe tone it down a notch. Also, I would move the "Est 2016" away from inside the graphic, where it appears forced and slightly cramped.
Overall, this has potential. You have a neat idea with the hydrant/tap idea. Definitely treat this as a professional project, since it can turn into a logo as you pointed out.
Thanks, Kill. Yeah, distressed is a bit of overkill, but will be for shirt printing only. This will be a total side project, I would love to spend more time on it but paying work is taking priority. lol And I need to have shirts printed for a birthday party coming up
I like the idea.
For the T`shirt illustration it would look awesome, especially on the black color (it will require some small adjustments). I agree with the previous comment, Est 2016 should be somewhere outside of the symbol, maybe under the Brew Pub.
For the logo, maybe you can try to put Safety Toms on the place where Brew Pub is placed, and to change font for the Brew pub into something simpler, sans serif. And of course, Est 2016 somewhere outside of the symbol.
I hope that we help you a bit.
Good luck!
Here is a revised version. I know the distress is still heavy, but this design is going on a shirt and we are going for a heavy distress look. Thanks for all the suggestions!
