Here's an alternative to putting the notches on the shorter edges.

Try using small divets on the corners, and/or add perforation patterns, and you'll achieve a ticket shape better, I think.

Thanks for your comment, but I want to incorporate a dotted wave that creates a ticket perforation at the same time. I'm not sure if adding an extra perforation wouldn't unnecessarily complicate my design. I want to keep it simple and clean.
