Brief from client
Typography signature for fun and practice.
Attempt to animate the logo for maybe email signature or something - suggestions to improve would be great. Animation below.
love it! the animation works really well.. I wish i knew how to do them! the only way i no how to do an animation is by doing an animated Giff in photoshop but they arent very good
There are a couple of ways to do it with flash. Either frame by frame erasing in reverse, which is way more intensive, or by animating masks. It can be a bit time consuming but it's pretty fun once you get close to finishing.
Oh yeah. All kinds of tutorials available. It looks like the newer releases of photoshop can now handle more robust animation but I haven't played with it before.
There is another way with Flash...
If you draw a single continuous line over any text, you can use this line as a guide tool, then you create a small shape, which will go from one end of the text to the other following the guide line, if you then set up some tweening points on each letter, you can add a nice flow to the way that the word writes out.
Hope this helps.

This was done with flash in case you were wondering - erasing in reverse as Jon mentioned.

It's fantastic. I love the terminal from the "n" as the dot on the "i"
