Brief from client
He is a reseller (ebay, amazon, etsy, etc.) of miscellaneous items, vintage, modern, toys.... His last name is Sims, and he requested "very colorful" logo and something playing off the Sims game. He wanted playful as opposed to corporate look. So I tried to do so- and the client loves it- but I'm personally concerned about it being too close to the game logo?? Opinions please on this, and feedback/criticism is ALWAYS WELCOME!

I drew the letters "i" and "m" and modified a font "s" as different from the game logo as possible. I added the arrow in hopes of representing that he ships your purchase right to your door. And was hoping that the transparency where the letters meet would add more color. (sorry I accidentally forgot to add this info with my post!)
I am going on record as saying this is an exceptionally bad idea on the client's part. He is just asking to get a cease and desist order.
Yeah, it's too close to eBay's old logo, and it really just looks like some kind of new expansion for the Sims.
I was once working on some signage designs for a restaurant opening up in Bridgeview, IL (Chicago), he wanted to call it "The View" and insisted that we use the exact logo from the T.V. show of the same name. I refused, telling him that it's blatant copyright infringement, and if we complied it would open us BOTH up to lawsuits.
He decided to change the name to "Starview". I just shook my head and asked him why he would name his restaurant that, and said it slowly: STARVE YOU.
There's just no helping some people.
just wow lol
That story made my day - thank you!
oh wow- I had not even considered the relation to ebay's logo! Oh my- how to I get myself out this one? Should I just go an entirely different route and hope for the best?
And for unterm rad- your story is fantastic!
