The colors are not very good, especially that gray. The font you chose should totally be replaced. Try a font with serifs to match the symbol or one sans-serif to contrast it. at the moment this rounded one looks just plain ugly. Also choose one which the "0" is not cut through. it doesn't look good. Do another symbol for the bullets because those circles make it look like a manhole.

Do these things and i will comment on it again so you can improve it even more.
If not choose another ideea and present it. You can get some inspiration from watching other various logos (without copying of course). You can start with some university logos. Those i think are the closest to your cause.
