Sushi Zen Is a restaurant that specialize in sushi and oriental food made with traditional methods. The client wanted something that reminded customers of food with a traditional taste made with organic products.

The whole religious/cultural thing is a bit too on the nose for my taste. And with such a name, it's a bit too "first idea", as in the obvious path any average designer would take. Don't be an average designer ;)
And be careful with using cultural references that you might not know too much about. If you want to go that way, do some in-depth research. I'm no expert either, but I don't really associate Buddhism with sushi... Avoid clichés as much as possible.
Also, this logo isn't well executed. That poor subtext is getting squashed between the word mark and that frame. And i don't think there should be an S on "food".
The lower part of the Buddha is bleeding over the red circle, for no particular reason and creates that big black stain that serves no purpose other than complicating things.
Solid. The small type is difficult to read though
