Brief from client
An electronic magazine with tips for entrepreneurs, soho owners, consultants, etc.
I know a lot of work is to be done, but I need some advice here before I go further.
The logo has too many things: the pencil, the glasses, the tie bow. But I want to express some intelligence, creativity and hip.
Do you think this is a good idea?
What parts of the composition should be gone?
The first thing I would remove with utmost violence is that 4. The gimmick that consists in replacing words like "for" or "to" with numbers is so 2002. It just makes your whole logo look dated and out of touch.
The symbol is as you said too clustery. I would just spend more time sketching out some ideas on paper. That bow tie makes me think of a restaurant. To be frank I don't think you need a hipster figure in there to make your logo hip. Do some research, and see what you find and let it inspire you.

Keep it up!
Too much going on, in terms of objects, styles and typo.
