Just get rid of all the gimmickry and untasteful treatments. Your logo will still look good.

It's a bald guy sporting a Franz Josef. Nice.

Wow, a shiny and glitzy 3D ball with a W.
Amateurs trying to earn a few bucks on crowd sourcing sites invented this abomination for silly visual simpletons who are willing to pay for something like this. It was an instant success a few years ago, everyone bought one so now you have shiny and glitzy 3D balls logos for hair salons, repair services, plumbers, electricians... almost any profession you can think off.
I think those clever amateurs managed to sell around 100.000 of those balls before paying suckers realized they bought something that doesn't work as a logo at all.
As all trendy stuff, famous balls logos disappeared quickly and only the biggest morons still have them.
Are you one of them?

i think it's a pretty good job, they would need to get rid of some unnecessary extra features in it.

by the way, your comment regarding Amateurs and crowd sourcing, are you referring to all who do crowd sourcing/freelance or just the specific ones?

I was referring to the trend started on 99designs a few years ago by a bunch of amateurs who knew how to draw a shiny ball in 3D software and exploited that to infinity to earn some cash, just like cheap whores offering quick blow jobs to drunken sailors.

That was a real downfall for graphic design as a serious and respected profession.

P.S. Forgot to add something... this 'logo' here is a clear case of copyright infringement - it's IDENTICAL to approximately 200 logos published on 99designs in period from 2009-2010.

Damnation! that's true.

Disregarding all the gimmickry in this logo, I thought at least it was better executed than other circle + "W" we have seen here.

i highly doubt with that comment you are in any professional shoe right now. the harsh, demeaning, lack of professional or helpful input comments that are said by you were at first humorous to many, but now it is at a point where i question your professional level. i respect your reply and opinion but there is a fine line about being honest, professional, and sarcastic versus being a meainingless, unhelpful, and moronic individual.

you also stated that the logo is a clear case of copyright infringement and identical to approximately 200 logos, please point a logo where this is "copyright infringement." yeah we've seen logos with this style/design or 3D looking, but if it is copyright infringement, you need to shine the way and show them with a sample logo where it clearly looks similar. you can't show the 3d style of another logo as 3d style logo's are not copyrighted, if that was the case, there would be lawsuits everywhere.

the logo to me reminds me of another logo but i just can't quite make it out yet which is why i have been doing my research with this logo myself.

with that being said, a few years from now, you'll be saying the same thing about those designers copyright infringing on what is designed at this time of design. one of my biggest pet peeve are those who get website templates ::hinthint:: and change graphics around and claim it as their own. we all work off references, so perhaps from this logo provided, they were inspired by another style that to them, they liked and presented to receive feedback, let alone positive or negative not childish responses or any demeaning comments.

just my opinion on the situation.

You are entitled to express your opinion and I am entitled to not care at all about it.

P.S. Forgot to adress your ::hinthint::. I am not a web developer and couldn't be bothered to invest too much time in developing a CMS portfolio so I bought a simple wordpress template from a friend. I see it as a tool for showing my work and yes it says copyright by Splashd, it means my work shown there is copyrighted.

SD Logo's's picture

Wow, way to be professional. I think the logo looks good, as with anything it couple be improved. I wouldnt waste too much thought worrying about the genous that came up with a SD logo. I am sure he does not make any real money in this world, if he did he would not be making comments like he did,

I think good your job, but, the symbol looks so basic, so poor, common. I think you can improve it and transform it in a better work. About the typo and colors, looks fine, you got the way.

I would like for you to upload the flat version. If you have read through any of the other critiques on this site you will know that web 2.0 graphics are met with disdain if not down right hatred and venom.

If your design chops do not only lie in the shiny 3-D world.. and you make a nice flat version, it would be a good study to point to in the future.

Plus you owe it to your client to give them something that they can really use.
