Brief from client 

A logo for our school kayak club. Our school colours are black and white, and the badge is a fleur de lys. This logo must be show strong links back to the school.

This version incorporates a kayak as well inside the escutcheon.

Yep better like this... but proportions are wierd !
The paddles are much longer than the kayak.

What is the meaning of the fleur-de-lys then? Is it also a thing in South Africa?

The fleur-de-lys is our school badge. It was brought over from the Rugby School badge along with the motto with the second headmaster
