Brief from client 

The client had some logos drawn up by someone else that were actually quite good but felt they weren't wow enough and didnt protray the grandeur of the company nor it is have a family feel to them.

So i was asked to provide an alternative

So the client loved it! He just asked to change the colours to black and gold or green and gold, I have done both options but think the black looks better. He also asked to add a little more colour into the symbol so i changed some parts to black. I have done another version where i filled some parts in colour but I think it makes it a bit to overpowering. What do you guys think?

Ok- liking the lion paws =) but not liking where you placed the color in this one- and not liking how you placed the color in the filled version =(
On the unfilled one- I think the plumes should all be one color- it's distracting in black and gold. The leaves should stay gold too. Have you tried maybe only having the "x", the dates, and the DLH in color? Similar to what you had before when it was maroon?
