King's Ransom Foundation is Christian non profit that supports many causes: feeding/clothing/educating orphans, rescuing children and women from sex trafficking, building water wells and homes in impoverished communities, feeding the poor, rescuing women from domestic violence, and they create jobs in communities where there are none. 100% of every donation directly to the people in need.
I wanted to create something simple that captured Christian imagery. They wanted crimson involved in the design as well.
The word ransom here means to redeem from captivity, bondage, detention, etc., by paying a price.
The crown of thorns symbolizes everything in the logo to me.
King- Jesus King of Kings
Ransom- his blood was our ransom
It's also a simple symbol that can be incorporated into online branding, marketing, products, etc.

I would steer clear of the Christian imagery, unless you only help Christians, but that wouldn't be very Christian would it?
I adore this. It's simple, symbolic, powerful, and professional. Like you said, it also will lend well to various applications. I think the crown of thorns is a powerful image. The simplicity in the font and the color usage add to that power. I love that the square looks like it is being pushed apart. Great work.
