Maple Creative

Brief from client

This is a personal logo for my own design work. Maple is my last name.

This is an updated version of my personal logo that I uploaded awhile ago. I removed the logo mark completely and instead refined the work mark more and added the lightning symbolism into the l swash. I also tightened up the "CREATIVE" line as I felt my previous version was a bit too spaced out.

I have recently acquired a new iPad Pro and did all my fine-tuning via procreate. I'm a fan of drawing logo ideas, but I definitely recommend utilizing an apple pencil and an iPad for logo work - it's a lot more forgiving then traditional drawing. Recommended!

Much better than the first version.

Now it's only a matter of fine tuning the curves. The descending leg of the M should match the curvature of the A better. It's a bit too stiff at the moment.

The L swash with that thunder feel is really cool.

Good job, keep it up!

Hmm, but would it throw off the M's right stem that matches the angle of the descender on the p? This portion of the logo is largely unchanged from the original typeface, so I'd assume they were trying to get the descenders and ascenders, stems, etc. to have a repeated angle. Even the stem on the a has the same angle.

Edit: I added a visual to show the angles. It's also sorta there for the l, but the l curves more.

If I am not mistaken, he is talking about the curve of the M as it wraps around the lower case a and continues into the underline. Just that little space between the a and the M underline.
