I found this font after posting the above. I was thinking maybe doing something like this (see attached) to the font in #1... do you think that would add to the text or should I just leave it be?
Definitely leave it be. This would add nothing to the whole logo, besides needless complications.
Again, keep it simple.
I agree with Shawali. You have a clean symbol, don't clutter it up with unnecessary detail that takes your eye away from your symbol. I truly love the progression of thought on this concept. You have done well! It is funny that we often think doing more makes something better when the opposite is generally the best.
Thank you everyone for your input. It has been a process but I think that I have a solid logo now.
