Strecker Nelson West Gallery

Brief from client

Client is the third owner of a well respected Kansas art gallery. After their recent purchase, they wanted a new mark to add their name "West". They wanted all three names, as well as the word gallery present in the logo.

This version uses the concept of a timeline, moving ahead through the past owners. The first two blocks are also empty, showing that they have vacated and passed ownership on to the next party, and the last block is filled black showing current ownership. As the timeline moves forward, the blocks get larger, representing the growing respect for this gallery.

Gotham was used with intent here, in order to be very non-descript. The logo will almost always be shown with artwork, one of the main goals was to create a unique mark that did not distract from the artwork.

Fresh and clean! I like it (and I'm a sucker for Gotham! lol) This is very appropriate for the business. If I had to say anything- and I don't know how this might mess with the spacing- I wish the letters aligned top and bottom also. EOS. KSE etc. May be worth a try, may totally wreck it! In any case this is nice work!

yep liking this a lot especially after reading your description! I agree with what Joy has said about those letters lining up but i dont know if you will be able to do that or not. I'm also a sucker for Gotham, i think its a font i use more than any!

Good job!

This is really nice. What would make it even nicer would be if each letter were vertically perfectly aligned (EE, CLW, KSE, EOS and RNT)

The only thing that bothers me is that the words aren't centered in their respective rectangles. Everything else is really nice, this is one of those cases when knowing the actual context of the work makes all the difference.

Nice. I agree with Shawali about the alignment of letters.

Thanks everyone! Believe it or not, I had tried aligned letters in initial concepts and it looked like a crossword puzzle. But at that time, the words were not surrounded by the boxes. So I tried it again with the new structure and it looks great!
