I think you're on to something here.
The text is surrounding the symbol a bit awkwardly. Give it some breathing room, and choose a simpler layout.
The symbol is okay. I think the hands could be drawn better, though. Fingers just don't bend that way. Once this is resolved, it will look a lot more convincing. Just be sure the pointer fingers don't overlap. The thumbs look fine, however.
I agree with Killswitch.
Again, this logo clearly lacks a massive amount of sketching. The composition is pretty bad. Keep things simple.
The idea is ok, you just need to rework the whole look & feel.
