NJ Graphic Design

Brief from client

This is my own personal logo - i designed this to get my company up and running. Possibly in future, i'd like to change the name and obviously new logo but i am still in the idea stage on that.

another version - was just mucking about with fonts and text. thinking more elements relate to design as the origami paper, typography, pencil and the woman i have used in advertising material which mimics me. logo not set in stone but just more ideas.

Its hard to make out right off the back. I would put graphic on the same line like you did design. the A in Graphic is way to close to the left. I would put NJ above Graphic this way it should read right.

Ok... lets start from the graphic - origami figures made a sudden comeback a year ago and some designers looking for a quick way to gain some recognition started hyper producing origami graphic for everything from public toilet signs to 'buy for less' banners. Faced with an avalanche of mediocre designs origami trend died as fast as it appeared. At stock clipart sites origami icons like the one you used are dozen a dime.
Typography - you used a nice retro font and turned it into unreadable mess and to make things even worse, on top of everything, you pasted another mediocre stock clipart (girl).
So what does this logo say about you?
Sadly it says you are good at using stock clipart but you don't really know much about graphic or logo design.
My advice: bookstore > books on graphics & logo design > study hard.

I really think is not a brand.
The graphic looks very pretty, no doubt. But, the symbol is too complex, the typo is very very difficult to read and the idea is loose, no make any sense. Sorry, but i think is not a brand.

The first thing I read was "Niga Rphic Design" and it wasn't easy.

Your first proposal was complex enough but this one is the mother of all complexities.

Think about simplicity and think a lot about it.

thanks for that. yeah i do agree that there is alot going on. i think im going to keep the name as all my documentation is NJ Graphic Design so i'll have to think of an idea which matches thumbs up to all above. will go back to the drawing board and resubmit something soon.

Yes, I'm sorry but I can't read this. I was trying to understand the folded paper, but I don't understand how the folds would come up with that shape. The character although different, reminds me of the "esurance" character. That aside, if you're going to use a characterture, be mindful of what its wearing. This kind of looks like a french maid outfit and that might represent a completely different business.

Looks like a circus tent misprint for a palm reader.
