Seattle Pen Club

Brief from client
A logo concept for a fountain pen club in Seattle, WA.

While ordinarily I would avoid the use of a fountain pen in a logo because of its overuse, this is for a fountain pen club, so the appearance of a nib seems unavoidable. I used the slit and vent hole of the nib to create the space needle. The text is set in Avenir (Heavy weight) with line spacing reduced and some kerning adjustments around the t's and the P.

I like the symbol i think you can maybe take out some of the fine detail in the space needle and make it a bit bigger so ppl can quickly and easily see what it is :)
Also dont be afraid to play with the second line of type too.
Pen Club sounds fun so maybe use a hand type font on "pen club"
I completely agree with Stephen. The symbol can go larger, almost having the tip if the space needle touching the top area. I also think the stroke around the whole pen could be a bit smaller to match the stroke the main structure of the space needle makes. Also try a revision without rounded corners on that stroke, make them pointed.
Your biggest area to work on is the typography, which right now looks a bit hap-hazzard. Try a revision that stacks the symbol on top of the text, and play with different sizes and stroke widths. You are on the right track though.
Good work so far. Keep it up!
The Space Needle cannot go larger with its tip nearly touching the top area, because that doesn't match the geometry of a fountain pen nib—something the members of the club will surely notice and dislike (myself included). I appreciate your typographic suggestions and I will definitely be playing around with different sizes and weights. Thanks for the feedback! ^^
I like it ! I dont' like the typography tough. The size seems unporportioned to me, and the font choise can be better. Keep up the good work, and do something with that text!
